Kenya - Foundation Pilling Dam Drilling

The need for water to supply Nairobi City has increased drastically, water shortage and increased water rationing has prompted the local authorities to construct a water reservoir near Ngong hills in addition to the existing dams located miles away out of Nairobi city.

PAT-Drill 301 trolley mounted was the best option for this dam construction project due to its mobililiy, flexibility and drilling in uneven terrains. The dam construction which required drilling 3000 meters on the dam basement, 30 meter holes each on different angles ranging from 90 to 45 degrees whereby cement would be pumped through at high pressure to seal underground cracks that would reduce dam water losses, the PAT-Drill 301 trolley equipment gave the contractor optimum advantage to meet the set standards and achieve their goal; 2 to 3 holes per day.
